Flynn slammed his Urn against Cade and he disappeared inside. Lotty, quickly realizing what it was told Flynn to hold off for a moment and gave her bag of holding to Silas, who was going to stay outside on watch, then asked Flynn to let her inside too along with Berrick and Null. Inside was Lavish with pillows, carpets, a huka, a dead plant (which has been used as an ashtray), with tapestry lined walls, and it all smelled of cigar smoke. Cade tried to revive the plant and Lotty tried to magically clean the place but neither magic worked.
Out from behind one of the curtains came a plump, half humanoid with stone skin, wearing silk, and had whips of smoke for legs. Flynn introduced him as Mortikai, his long lost cousin. Mortikai was upset since he thought he was Flynn's brother instead. Mortikai thought highly of Flynn but seemed to have resentment over his living situation. Cade recognized him as a Dao Genie. Through this conversation it became clear that Morikai has been trapped in this Urn which Flynn found a few years previously with some other scrap.. They apparently became friends and trade favors, but Morikai has been keeping track and it is 7 favors by Flynn to 3,761 by Morikai.
The group had not been in there but 10 minutes when it seemed like they had relaxed for an hour. The group exited the Urn shortly after and were back on the road to Pacapa. Lotty and Null discussed Null's disguise and eventually went for Null appearing to be Lotty's sister.
Once they arrived in Pacapa, Silas noticed a lot of Aeonian technology was being used by the Exchange's security force, the "Peacekeepers" such as their flying discs and crossbows.
The group went to the Harbor of Haggling to find Fallah but she was not on her bench so went to the Seaside Shanty Tavern, where Null put the requisite 21 gold on the bartop and asked about rumor's. The Hobgoblin bartender swiped up the money and told us that someone would contact us shortly. While we were waiting, Flynn went and bought 10 deluxe cigars and Lotty stocked up on 3 ashtrays, then they went for food.
Null was very jittery by the time a youthful male elf just appeared in the empty chair at their table. The group quickly realized it was Fallah. They traded information and coin back forth to get the information out of Fallah. The group told her that it is rumored that Nasandriel is in a swamp in the Wildlands and that Elric had the Demonocon exercised out of him by the Divine Pansopical and returned to the Underdark; along with 10pp. Fallah told the group that:
- Madame Trolley runs the orphanage and has for the last 20 years.
- She runs a tight ship and employs some of the Watchers as guards for the children as she does not trust the Peacekeepers to keep the kids safe from slavery.
- The BoS has never been inside or ever had need to investigate the orphanage.
- There was an incident about a decade ago where a human child was placed there while it still had parents which were quite powerful. The parents, who appeared human, eventually disappeared and the child stayed at the orphanage.
During the conversation with Fallah, it appeared to Cade that she understand the Ashen language.
While they were sitting there, Cade noticed that they were being observed by two of the peacekeepers. The Peacekeepers even followed them as they left and headed toward an inn near the orphanage.
They eventually make their way to the Hole in the Wall Inn that is just down the street from the orphanage. It is in the slums area of town and was in disrepair where Lotty even had to fix the front door. They found a dead body out front, and when Cade pointed it out to the Peacekeepers who were following them they did not seem to care.
The inkeeper there, Vort, said there was only one room available and promptly yelled at another patron, Marv, that he was being kicked out. The group was trying to make do with the one room with Lotty cleaning, Flynn trying to figure out where to ash his cigar, and Null franticly trying to plan when and how to visit the orphanage when they heard some commotion downstairs in the bar area. Some Peacekeepers had shown up and were quizzing the patrons about some "security issue". Cade, Flynn and Lotty went to investigate and were just told to return to their rooms by a female Peacekeeper.
At the same time as Cade, Flynn, and Lotty left the room, an illusion of Nasandriel shows up in the room and taunts the remainder of the party. They chat for a bit then Nasandriel imitates Null to get them in trouble by shouting "Fuck the Peacekeepers". Null pretends she said "Fuck these meat peepers" while trying to keen her Goggles of the Night. The leader of the Peacekeepers does not really buy it and expresses that the Ashen Company is not welcome in Pacapa and should leave within a day.
The group decides to go to the orphanage and found it to be a nicer building in the area. It had a little park outside, guards to protect the kids from being taken and sold to slavery, viewing the kids through the windows looked like they were happy, laughing, eating, enjoying themselves, and there were no bars on the windows. The group talked their way past the guard to talk with Madame Trolley and are waiting in the front lobby for her.
